I don't know if this is constructive or not but...
I think perhaps the very first form of URL “manipulation” I ever discovered (preteen or before... can't even tell ya) was WordPress' (and others') support of appending ?s=[query] to search posts. I only did so out of frustration with blogs I came across that didn't have a visual search box. Are there efforts in web standardization to implement standard search queries? Surely.
(I think I'll look that up now hehe.)
