@rgruen you are correct, I totally forgot about that. As long as the link/url to the “hidden” album is not spread out in public, they are sort of private in a sense.

@dino, @ridwan The Galleries are Public per default, But you can hide particular Galleries from the overview. This means, that you have to know the link to it to view. But they're still public.

@Ridwan they are public. I just figured out your gallery page just now.

One workaround to the public issue is to create a private Write.as blog and put your photos in there. It's a bit more work though and it won't exactly be a gallery/album. I have to say this is where Social Media has a leg up over other implementations, because you can restrict views way easier in those networks.

@Dino Oh, I did not know that the albums are public. I just assumed they are private and if we need to share them online, we can share them via URLs.

@Ridwan I have an issue using Snap.as for that. Like for instance family photos, I don't want them out in public. So Snap.as won't work for that unless I can hide the album behind a password. I believe Matt will eventually add that feature, but that's in the future.

But for other photos that don't need to be private, Snap.as is perfect as a digital album option.

@Dino One idea for curating photos is using Snap.as gallery feature. I have mulled over this idea for quite some time. I first need to download a ton of photos from Apple & Google servers and also scan our old physical albums for curation. I guess this could be a massive undertaking and an area of focus (in GTD terminology).

That's a good list. I have the first two already, journals and books. I'm really trying to get a handle on photos. Me and my wife want to start doing paper photo albums. We've got so many photos on our phones, but they're just stuck there, like a digital prison. We need to get them printed out and into physical albums.

journals, books, photos – exactly what I will be leaving behind (mostly digitally). I don't collect or keep up with other things, so hopefully my photographs, writings, and things of interest carry on even after I am gone, some day.
